A poem is never finished, only abandoned.
Paul Valéry
Something different for you all today, about time I got creative for a change:
Background noise
Two tone, next door's extractor fan
A high whir masking an intricate low gurgle
A ding of an elevator out in the hall
One for up, two for down
The never ending highway buzz
Time of day, gauged by speed and volume
Low pitched roar, it rained last night
Trash tumbling down garbage chute
The death rattle of expired product
Distant music starts
A morning alarm, quickly stilled
Other people's lives, background noise in mine
My life, like my apartment, insulated
Some creeps through
When my space is silent
Yet how simple to ignore
When my noise begins.
till next time,
Jo
What currently has my attention?
I mentioned the UK election a couple of blogs ago. I watched the results come in late into the night on Thursday, on BBC News online, and the aftermath, with no clear winner, is as interesting as the lead-up.
What is currently annoying me?
My lack of sleep. I go to bed increasingly earlier just to wake up earlier still.
What am I looking forward to?
Going out to see friends for dinner. I guess you could call it a dinner party. Far beyond time I get a social event.
What did I learn today?
Goodbye came from God bye, which came from God be with you.
